Aniline Blue 5 %
Aniline blue 5% is a dye solution used primarily in andrology for staining sperm preparations. This staining technique allows detailed examination of sperm morphology and helps distinguish normal sperm from those with abnormal shapes or structures.
The use of aniline blue 5% facilitates visualization of sperm heads by binding to basic and acidic components of sperm nucleoprotein. Greater staining of sperm heads may indicate inadequate condensation of chromatin, which may indicate possible fertility problems. Aniline blue staining is often performed as part of semen analysis to assess sperm quality in the diagnosis of male infertility.
