Basic Green-Mucicarmin Solution

The Brilliant Green Mucicarmin Solution (SAFELINE) is a finely tuned combination of distilled water, ethanol, Brilliant Green and Mucicarmin stock solution. It is mainly used in histology and medical diagnostics, especially for staining and visualization of mucus structures. Mucicarmine, a carmine-based dye, shows a high affinity for mucus substances, which allows visualization of such structures under the microscope. Brilliant green, a triphenylmethane dye, complements by specific staining of further cell structures. Ethanol serves as an effective solvent here and promotes effective and homogeneous staining. This combination of dyes allows clear differentiation and identification of both mucus structures and other cellular components in samples.
