Instructions / Protocol / Recommendations
Verwendung:
Ehrlich's reagent is an in vitro diagnostic solution used to detect primary amino groups and indole compounds. In medicine and microbiology it is used to identify bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, that can degrade tryptophan to indole, while in forensics and toxicology it is used to detect indole derivatives in hallucinogenic substances such as LSD or psilocybin.
Prinzip:
EHRLICH's reagent is a commonly used reagent in in vitro diagnostics, used for identification and visualization of tissue or cell structures. The reagent consists of a mixture of hydrochloric acid, water and 4-(dimethylamino)-benzaldehyde. The principle of operation is based on the reaction of 4-(dimethylamino)-benzaldehyde with certain amino groups in tissue or cell structures, resulting in a covalent bond. The resulting color complexes then allow easy visualization of the structures under the microscope. The presence of hydrochloric acid and water in the solution promotes the reaction and ensures optimal stability of the reagent.
