Iron(III) Chloride 10 %

which is used in various scientific and technical applications. In histology and cytology, this solution is often used as a stain to highlight specific structures in tissues, especially when combined with various dyes. Iron(III) chloride is also used in Perls-Prussian Blue staining to detect iron deposits in tissues.

In metallography, iron(III) chloride is used as an etchant to reveal the microstructure of metals and alloys. Etching with iron(III) chloride causes different phases and grain structures to be attacked differently, making it possible to examine and analyze the microstructure under a microscope. Iron(III) chloride is used in metallography for the detection of phosphorus segregation (for steels up to 0.5%C), grain area etchant, grain figures and hatch etch for mild steels, pretreatment for the detection of force action figures and change detection.

In chemistry, iron(III) chloride is used as an oxidizer, catalyst and etchant.
