Formalin 4 % buffered according to Lillie
Chemically, formaldehyde is an aldehyde (HCHO) and is included as a stabilized form. Sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate and di-sodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate act as buffer substances. In the presence of formalin, formaldehyde reacts with connective tissues and proteins of biological samples and stabilizes them.
Fixation occurs through the cross-linking of amino acids in macromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids, which maintains the structure of the sample unchanged. This enables the subsequent analysis and interpretation of tissue samples, e.g. in cancer diagnostics or in the investigation of inflammatory processes.
The molarity of the solution is 10.075 mol/L, the osmolarity concludes from this to 20.15 mOsm/L and the buffer capacity has a pH range of 6.8 to 7.2. Thus, Formalin 4 % buffered according to Lillie is an ideal solution for the fixation of biological samples so that precise analysis is possible.

Instructions / Protocol / Recommendations
Verwendung:
