Methylene Blue 0.01 %, aqueous
Methylene blue 0.01% is an aqueous solution of methylene blue (C.I.: 52015). Methylene blue is an aromatic heterocyclic molecule with a blue color and is widely used as a dye in histology and microscopy.
The product is used to stain tissue samples to allow better differentiation of different cell types. Methylene blue binds to acidic structures such as nucleic acids and proteins and stains them blue. This allows cell structures such as cell nuclei and cell membranes to be better visualized.
The solution has very low concentration of 0.01% methylene blue and is therefore particularly suitable for sensitive staining.
