Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), granules

Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), also known as caustic soda or caustic soda, is a strong inorganic alkali in granular form. It is a white, hygroscopic and odorless solid salt that dissolves readily in water, releasing heat.

In many scientific and industrial applications, sodium hydroxide is an important reagent, often used to adjust the pH of solutions. It can be used to neutralize acids, in the manufacture of soaps and detergents, and in the paper and textile industries. In the food industry, NaOH is used to process olive oil, peel fruits and vegetables, and make canned goods.

In chemical analysis, sodium hydroxide is used to titrate acids in an acid-base titration. In the laboratory, NaOH can also be used to remove proteins and fats from glassware by dissolving it in water to create a cleaning solution.
