Papanicolaou’s Solution - EA65 (PAP 3c)
Papanicolaous solution EA65 (PAP 3c) is one of the staining components used in Papanicolaou staining (PAP staining). PAP staining is a multi-step staining technique mainly used in cytological examination of cells in body fluids, especially for cervical smears in gynecological cytology.
EA65 is a mixture of eosin and various dyes such as Light Green SF, Bismarck Brown Y and other components. It is used in the third step of PAP staining after the nuclei have been stained with Gill's Papanicolaous Hematoxylin (PAP 1b). The EA65 solution stains the cytoplasm and various cytoplasmic structures in different colors, allowing for differential staining. This allows detailed examination and diagnosis of cell morphology and cell changes or abnormalities.
