Kresylechtviolet 0.25% is an aqueous solution of a synthetic dye used in histology and cytology. Kresylechtviolet belongs to the group of basic aniline dyes and is known for its staining of nucleic acids and other basic cellular structures.
In a 0.25% aqueous solution, Kresylechtviolet is used to stain cell nuclei, chromosomes and other cellular structures. It is particularly useful for imaging neurons and glial cells in nervous tissue because it selectively stains these cells due to their specific chemical composition. In addition, cresylecht violet finds application in the study of bacteria and fungi.
Because cresylecht violet can interact with both acidic and basic cellular structures, it can be combined with other dyes to image various cellular structures and tissue components simultaneously.
