SCHAUDINN’s Fixative
The SCHAUDINN fixing solution is mainly used in histology and pathology. It is used to fix tissue samples and preserve their structure for subsequent microscopic examination. The solution allows effective fixation of cells without affecting their morphology or structure.
The fixing solution is based on a combination of saturated aqueous sublimate solution and denatured ethanol 99.0%. The aqueous sublimate solution contains mercury(II) chloride, which serves as a strong fixative for cellular proteins. By interacting with cellular proteins, covalent bonds are formed, cross-linking and stabilizing the proteins. This stabilization allows the cellular structure to be maintained during subsequent processing of the sample. The denatured ethanol in SCHAUDINN Fixing Solution serves as a preservative and helps dehydrate the sample, which is necessary for optimal fixation. In addition, the ethanol content aids the penetration of the fixative solution into the tissue.
SCHAUDINN Fixative Solution is suitable for a wide variety of tissue types and applications in histology and pathology. Its chemical properties allow fast and effective fixation of specimens, while the combination of the two main components makes the solution versatile. SCHAUDINN Fixing Solution thus represents a reliable and effective fixative for histological and pathological examinations, preserving the structure and morphology of tissue samples and enabling precise analysis.
