Sudan III, alcoholic (original)
The alcoholic Sudan III solution is used to identify and localize lipids in various tissues, such as adipose tissue, liver, or atherosclerotic plaques. Lipid staining can provide important information about the distribution and content of lipids in tissues and cells, which may be important for the diagnosis and understanding of various diseases and metabolic processes.

Instructions / Protocol / Recommendations
Verwendung:
Sudan III solution is used in in vitro diagnostics for staining tissue samples. It enables microscopic examination and identification of adipose tissue in histology as it selectively binds to lipids, mainly triglycerides. The bright red staining facilitates visualization and analysis of fat cell structure to identify pathological conditions or changes in tissue composition.
Prinzip:
The Sudan III solution is particularly suitable for in vitro diagnostics of lipids in biological samples, as it selectively stains lipid-relevant substances. The staining solution, consisting of ethanol, water, Sudan III and 1-propanol, enables the identification and visualization of lipids by the formation of red-stained lipid particles. The alcohol components serve to dehydrate and degrease the sample, enhance soluble extraction, and allow lipid-soluble Sudan III to bind to lipids. This selective staining mechanism facilitates quantitative and qualitative analysis of lipids in biological tissues and fluids.
