Formalin 10 %, carbonate buffer, pH neutral, is a widely used fixing solution in histology and pathology. The solution contains from 10 % formaldehyde and a carbonate buffer, which adjusts the pH of the solution to neutrality. Formalin is a well-known fixative that cross-links proteins in tissue specimens, thereby preserving and stabilizing their structure.
The carbonate buffer prevents the pH of the solution from becoming too acidic or too basic, which can lead to undesirable changes in tissue structure. This allows for better morphology preservation and improved staining properties of the fixed specimens.

Verwendung:
Bei der Fixierung werden alle in der Zelle ablaufenden Prozesse unterbrochen, unter möglichst optimaler Erhaltung des Zustandes und der Struktur des Gewebes. Biochemische Prozesse wie Autolyse, Verwesung und Fäulnis werden wirkungsvoll verhindert. Fixierlösung nach Stieve eignet sich zur Fixierung von Hodengewebe und Eierstockgewebe. Die Fixierlösung ist ausschließlich für die professionelle Anwendung als in-vitro Diagnostikum im histologischen Labor vorgesehen.
