Glutaraldehyde fixing solution according to KARNOVSKY
Karnovsky fixing solution provides excellent fixation and preservation of cell and tissue structures, especially fine intracellular structures such as cell membranes and organelles. This makes it a preferred choice for electron microscopy, where high resolution and precise visualization of fine structures are required.
In addition to electron microscopy, Karnovsky's glutaraldehyde fixing solution can also be used in light microscopy when particularly good preservation of cell structures is desired. Fixation with Karnovsky's solution provides excellent stability and allows observation and analysis of cell structures in a variety of experimental and diagnostic applications.

Instructions / Protocol / Recommendations
Verwendung:
The Karnovsky Fixing Solution is used in in vitro diagnostics for the preservation and stabilization of biological samples. Due to its composition of paraformaldehyde, glutardialdehyde, hydrochloric acid and cacodylic acid sodium salt, it enables effective cross-linking of proteins and cell structures, optimally preserving the samples for further investigations, such as electron microscopy, thus ensuring precise results.
Prinzip:
Karnovsky fixing solution is a fixing solution used in in vitro diagnostics to preserve the structure of cells and tissues by chemical cross-linking of proteins. It consists of paraformaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, cacodylic acid sodium salt, hydrochloric acid and water. Paraformaldehyde and glutaraldehyde are aldehydes that cross-link proteins, thereby stabilizing cell structure. Cacodylic acid sodium salt acts as a buffer to maintain optimal pH. Hydrochloric acid is added to generate an acidic pH, which improves the reactivity of the glutaraldehyde. The combination of these chemicals enables efficient fixation of cells and tissues for microscopic analysis and other in vitro diagnostic applications.
