Glycerine-Gelatine Solution
Glycerol gelatin is used in microscopic diagnostics. It serves as an embedding medium for tissue sections and other biological samples to ensure their stability during the staining process. The glycerol gives the solution a suitable viscosity, which closely binds the embedding material and the material to be examined, allowing the dyes to penetrate the samples. Gelatin helps stabilize the sample by forming a protective layer that protects the material under examination from damage. Thymol acts as a preservative, inhibiting the growth of microorganisms and thus increasing the shelf life of the medium. The result is precise staining and clear visualization of structures for accurate diagnosis.
