PBS buffer, pH 7.4 - 10x concentrate

The PBS buffer (Phosphate Buffered Saline) is a widely used buffer solution used in biology and biochemistry. With a pH of 7.4, the solution is close to physiological pH, making it optimal for many cellular and biochemical processes.

The 10x Concentrate is a concentrated form of the buffer that is used to prepare working solutions easily and quickly. To prepare a 1x PBS solution, dilute the 10x concentrate 1:9 with distilled water. For example, 1 part 10x PBS concentrate is mixed with 9 parts water to make a 1x PBS solution.

The PBS buffer solution contains sodium phosphate (as monobasic sodium phosphate and dibasic sodium phosphate) and sodium chloride. These components provide adequate buffering capacity and osmotic balance required for many applications in cell culture, immunoassays, protein purification and precipitation, cell washing, and general cellular and molecular experiments.
