Nitric Acid Decalcification 5 %
The nitric acid decalcifying solution 5% consists of a mixture of water and nitric acid. In this concentration, it is ideally suited for applications in histology and cytology as well as in materialography.
In histology and cytology, it is used as a decalcifying solution to remove calcium deposits from tissue samples. These deposits consist mainly of calcium compounds. In the chemical reaction with the nitric acid, they are converted into water-soluble calcium nitrate compounds, which enables efficient decalcification. After treatment with the nitric acid decalcification solution 5%, the tissue samples are accessible for further microscopic examination, leading to detailed insights into the tissue structure.
In materialography, the nitric acid decalcification solution 5% is used as an etchant for ferritic welded joints and copper alloys. The acid reacts with the surface of the material and leads to a change in the optical properties. This enables the visualization of microstructures and potential defects in the material.
