FREIBURG’s Fixation

Freiburg solution is a fixing solution particularly suitable for electron microscopy and transmitted light microscopy with classical histological staining. The composition includes aqua bidest as an aqueous base, formaldehyde, glutardialdehyde and calcium acetate x-hydrate.

The chemical mode of operation is based on the combination of formaldehyde and glutardialdehyde, which allows optimal fixation of tissue and cell structures. These two aldehydes act synergistically to ensure effective and gentle fixation of cell membranes and intracellular organelles.

The special suitability of the Freiburg solution lies in its applicability in various microscopic investigations. In electron microscopy, it preserves ultrastructural details and fine structures, while in transmitted light microscopy it provides a good basis for classical histological stains such as hematoxylin-eosin (HE), Mallory's trichromes, and other common stains in histology and cytology. Fixation with the Freiburg solution allows optimal preservation of cell structures and is therefore suitable for a wide range of examinations.
