SSC stock solution pH 7.0
The SSC stock solution pH 7.0 is used in biochemistry for washing and storing nucleic acids. It is particularly relevant in application areas such as Southern blot, in situ hybridization, DNA microarray and Northern blot. Its special suitability lies in the high concentration of sodium chloride and trisodium citrate, which help to ensure the stability of nucleic acids during experimental processes. Chemically, the SSC stock solution is a 20-fold concentration containing 3 M sodium chloride and 300 mM trisodium citrate, with pH adjusted to 7.0. This high concentration allows for efficient hybridization and ensures the integrity of the nucleic acids during analysis. The solution can also be used to prepare a hybridization buffer in combination with the Denhardt solution. The operation of the SSC stock solution is based on its ability to stabilize the intermolecular interactions of nucleic acids, allowing effective hybridization.
