Eosin 10 %, alcoholic
Eosin 10%, alcoholic is a solution containing the synthetic dye eosin (tetrabromofluorescein, molecular formula: C_20H_8Br_4O_5) at a 10% concentration, dissolved in an alcohol, usually ethanol or isopropanol. This eosin solution is widely used in histology and cytology to stain cell structures and the extracellular matrix. Eosin has a high affinity for basic structures such as proteins and typically stains them pink or red.
The use of a 10% alcoholic eosin solution has several advantages over aqueous solutions. First, the alcohol can act as a fixative that better preserves cell structures and tissues during the staining process. Second, the increased concentration of eosin improves staining intensity and allows better differentiation of cellular and extracellular structures. Third, the alcohol dries the tissue faster than water, which can speed up the staining process.
Eosin 10%, alcoholic is therefore a good choice for histological and cytological applications where intense staining, improved differentiation of cellular and extracellular structures and a fast staining process are required. By using an alcoholic solution, optimal staining is achieved that preserves the morphological characteristics of cells and tissues and allows sufficient differentiation of cellular and extracellular structures.
