SCHAFFER’s Fixative (Formaline Ethanol) pH 7.2 - 7.4
In medical diagnostics and histology, SCHAFFER solution is often used as a fixing substance for tissue sections analyzed in microscopic examinations. It enables preservation of tissue structure and prevents decomposition of the material, which is essential for precise analysis. The chemical properties of the solution ensure that the specimens are easily recognizable and stable, especially in the histological field.
By using SCHAFFER solution in these fields of application, reliable and reproducible results are obtained, on the basis of which scientific knowledge can be gained and diagnoses made.

Verwendung:
During fixation, all processes taking place in the cell are interrupted, while preserving the condition and structure of the tissue as optimally as possible. Biochemical processes such as autolysis, decay and putrefaction are effectively prevented. \rThe Schaffer fixative solution is particularly suitable for the fixation of bone biopsies for immunohistochemistry (IHC), imaging of mucus, hard tissues and fluorochrome-labeled tissues. The fixative solution is intended exclusively for professional use as an in vitro diagnostic agent in the histology laboratory.
Prinzip:
The tissue pieces are immersed in the fixation solution. Immersion fixation takes place. The fixative solution is sufficient to denature the protein of the tissue and prevent autolysis. The metabolic processes in the tissue are stopped and the fixed tissue becomes solid and easily cut. The cell structures and cell components are preserved and after further processing the preparations can be evaluated by light microscopy.
